Cops swarm and arrest man who allegedly fired BB gun in Bronx

Video shows the tense arrest of a man suspected of firing several shots from a BB gun in the Bronx this week.

Robert Meredith, 34, was dragged out of his car at East 160th and Elton Avenue in the Melrose section by multiple cops around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, law enforcement sources said.

Officers, who were responding to a report of shots fired, could be seen approaching the vehicle with guns drawn in wild footage posted on Instagram by @NYPD_PHOTOS.

“Keep your hands outside of the vehicle. Don’t do it to yourself. Keep your hands outside the car boss,” one of the cops is heard saying.

A woman inside the Nissan pleads: “There’s a baby in there. There’s a baby in there.”

“It’s an air gun, it’s an air soft,” a man says, before an officer takes out a BB gun resembling an AR-15 from the car, according to the clip.

Robert Meredith was charged with four counts of weapons possession, acting in a manner injurious to a child and reckless endangerment.

The video then shows Meredith being pulled out of the vehicle and arrested as throngs of cops flooded the scene, which is only a block away from the NYPD’s 42nd precinct house, according to the sources.

The suspect, who sources said is a member of the Bloods gang, was charged with four counts of weapons possession, acting in a manner injurious to a child and reckless endangerment, after cops found another airsoft gun in his car, according to the sources.

Bystanders on the scene said they feared for their safety when he allegedly shot the BB, according to the sources.

BB guns are only allowed in New York City for licensed entertainment, such as at shooting ranges.

The incident was far from Meredith’s first brush with the law, sources said. He has 14 prior arrests, according to the sources.
